When purchasing a home which has a North Georgia well level testing, it is important that the well should be in top condition to prevent any inconvenience and providing a steady water supply. The following are important steps and tips to assist you:

1. Perform a Detailed Well Inspection

Professional well check must be done to determine the general condition of the well system. It involves inspecting the pump, pressure tank, casing, and cap. The inspection must also include testing the flow rate and yield of the well to determine if it will be able to fulfill your home's demands. Regular checks can detect issues early enough before they become costly to fix and provide a steady water supply.

2. Test the Water Quality

Testing for water quality is important to guarantee the safety and purity of your well water. The test should involve testing for bacteria, nitrates, total dissolved solids, pH, and other substances. It is advisable to test the water every year and whenever there is a change in taste, odor, or color. Test for radon since it is not widely tested in most places but forms a crucial part of water safety.

3. Inspect the Surrounding Environment of the Well

The surrounding environment of the well must not have impurities nearby. Make sure the well is at least 50 feet away from septic systems, silos, and livestock pens to avoid contamination. Remove dangerous chemicals, pesticides, and fertilizers from the well vicinity as well to protect the water source.

4. Construct and Install the Well Properly

If you’re buying a home with an existing well, verify that it was constructed and installed correctly. The well casing should extend at least one foot above the ground, and the space between the casing and the borehole wall should be fully sealed with grout. The well cap should be sanitary and securely attached to prevent surface contamination.

5. Monitor and Maintain the Well System

Seasonal maintenance is the most important way to extend the life of your well. You can do this seasonally by checking the wellhead and cap, listening for odd noises or pressure changes in the well pump, and cleaning and sanitizing the system as needed. Keeping a record of everything that is serviced and tested can allow you to monitor trends over time and get problems resolved before they get serious.

6. Make Long-Term Plans

Knowing what the well is like now will enable you to forecast the well's future maintenance requirements and budget for this. If the well is coming to the end of its working life (usually 20+ years), budget for abandoning or replacing the well.

Through the above steps, you can be sure that your newly installed home well is safe, operational, and code-compliant in your area. Well-maintained well equipment not only keeps you healthy, but also makes your property worth more.
